1.- Keep your browser and operating system updated.
The manufacturer will periodically offer updates and new versions that improve the security on their products. It is very important to install these updates. For updates to be effective, the operating system must be an original program.
In the case of Microsoft, you can activate automatic updates and/or look for updates through the Tools menu of your browser, by clicking on the option "Windows Update".
2.- Make sure you have an original antivirus program that is regularly updated.
Make sure you are protected against the latest threats. Currently, most antivirus programs include an automatic update option. If it is not activated, activate it. The manufacturer/distributor should provide online support to resolve any incidents. Our recommendation is to use renowned prestigious companies to ensure rapid updates in the face of any new threats.
3.- Install a personal firewall.
A personal firewall is a program that is constantly running on your computer. The program monitors connections to and from the computer and is capable of distinguishing between legitimate connections and those carried out by hackers. In this second case, it blocks them and notifies the computer’s user. This type of program is usually included in security suites offered by various manufacturers, which include Antivirus, Firewall, etc.
4.- It is a good idea to install an anti-spyware program.
To avoid spyware and undesired advertising.
5.- Never use the ‘Auto Fill’ option on Windows for passwords.
Do not use this option to remember your Home Banking passwords, especially if accessing from a computer that is not yours. In CAM Directo, we do not permit your username and password to be automatically completed.
6.- Delete temporary Internet files.
Periodically delete temporary Internet files, cookies and your browsing history. This option can usually be found on your browser’s ‘Tools’ menu.
7.- Try not to share files on the Internet.
It is not advisable to share files or printers with third parties.
8.- Avoid using peer-to-peer or P2P networks as far as possible.
File sharing sites such as Kazaa, Emule, Ares, etc. should be avoided because, generally, they are unprotected against Trojan Horses or viruses in general. If you still use these kinds of networks, make sure the files downloaded do not contain any kind of virus by scanning them with the antivirus program before you open them.
9.- Always use original programs.
Do not use pirate copies or low quality software or programs.
